In the province of Entre Ríos, on several islands in the immense Paraná River, lives a small population of people. Because of the remoteness of these islands, the schools are built on floating barges. Sadly, they are severely underfunded, to the point where the teachers purchase school operating supplies out of their own pockets. One of the teachers recently told us about buying a phone for the school, paying its monthly bill, and commented"What worker pays for his office phone out of his own salary?"

En la provincia de Entre Ríos, sobre varias islas del inmenso Río Paraná, vive una población pequeña de gente. Por causa de lo remoto de estas islas, se han construido las escuelas en barcos flotantes. Tristemente, son severamente limitadas en sus fondos, al punto de que los docentes compran necesidades escolares de sus propios bolsillos. Uno de los maestros nos dijo recién de haber comprado un teléfono para la escuela, pagando su cuota mensual, y comentó "Qué obrero paga el teléfono de oficina de su propio salario?"
